Building for a better future at the Stables – tell them what you think!

Dear Stables supporter

I’m writing with an invitation to take a look at plans for an exciting building development due to commence at the Stables in late 2014.

Since it opened back in 1970, the Stables has presented some of the world’s finest musicians and become one of the UK ’s best-loved venues and centres for music education. With an annual programme of more than 350 concerts and 250 educational events, the Stables is now bursting at the seams and set to grow again.

For the past year we have been engaged in feasibility work to redevelop the Courtyard and the North End of the building to create another performance space, enhance our backstage facilities for artists and introduce digital recording and editing facilities. We also aim to introduce renewable energy helping us make the organisation more environmentally and financially sustainable.

With £2 million of funding earmarked from Arts Council England’s lottery funding programme we have a great opportunity to provide more opportunities for our audiences to enjoy high quality music and artists from around the world.

Click on these links to take a look at the introduction to the project, what will be involved and a number of artists impressions.

Being able to unlock the earmarked Arts Council funding will depend on us being able to demonstrate the viability of the scheme and support for the project from our audiences and artists, so once you’ve had a look, we’d be grateful if you could tell us what you think and complete a short questionnaire by following this link.
