Happy New Year -
I am sure that as 2024 approaches many of us are starting to make plans for the new year, and as always at the council one of our hopes for the Wavendon community is that anyone who is looking to get more active as part of their new year resolutions will make the most of the expanding fantastic leisure facilities and activity programmes that will come on stream over 2024 including the expanding playing fields at the Wavendon Hub and the ever expanding array of activities being made available in each of our three community centres.
Wavendon has grown dramatically over the past decade, from approx. 350 dwellings to now well over 3300 dwellings and with many more to come as South East Milton Keynes starts to be built out. We shall be working to develop our Parish Council policy of community integration celebrating the diversity and cultural diffusion this opportunity represents whilst pledging to monitor the impacts of such continual rapid growth on the health and wellbeing of all those we have the privilege to represent.
Can I wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2024.

New Year’s Message
This year has been uniquely challenging and difficult. We have seen the worst public health emergency in a century as Covid-19 spread and the nation entered the first of several lockdowns on March 23.
2020 will shortly be coming to an end. I do not suppose that many people in Wavendon will regret its passing.
The normal patterns of everyday living, working, shopping, seeing family and friends has not been possible.
The latter has been particularly upsetting over the Christmas period. Many people have lost their employment and businesses have sadly closed as the pandemic severely impacts our economy.
Despite these awful circumstances we have all seen inspiring service from NHS and social care staff and in fact from everyone who works hard to keep our society functioning.
As we enter 2021 we all hold on to hope for a better year to come for ourselves, families and communities.
2021 will be better!
Vaccines will be available to minimize the threat posed by Covid-19.
Although we shall never be able to ignore the virus which, I suspect like influenza will always be a feature of life in the future, we shall return to a safer normality.
2021 will be better!
To you all I wish a safe, peaceful and prosperous New Year.
Cllr David Hopkins

As many residents of Wavendon will know, our community will be getting a new Community Hub (Pavilion) building together with playing fields on the land between Newport Road and Stockwell Lane. This will serve both existing residents and also those settling in the new developments across the Parish.
Due for completion in September 2022, it is hoped the new facilities will serve as a focus for community engagement, healthy activity and enjoyable recreation for all.
