Request for the protection of existing trees and hedgerows in Wavendon

Wavendon Parish Council and residents are concerned about the destruction of hedgerows and trees in the Parish. Whilst recognising as the Parish increases in size over the coming years, it is important that we make every effort to retain as much of the existing character of Wavendon.

The Parish Council is indebted to a few residents for starting to document the current hedgerows and trees in the Parish of Wavendon and attached to this letter is a document that highlights trees and hedgerows of concern within the Church Farm development site. CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE MAP. The images included are only a few of the sections of the hedgerows and trees in the Parish of Wavendon. There are many more in the area, and every effort must be made to preserve as many as possible. All the included images, document the full extent of the hedgerows and the trees are adjacent to the footpaths / bridleway.

My Parish Council believe that the criteria for preserving our hedgerows as defined in the 1997 Government Act must be met to preserve these natural assets, as well as all the biodiversity that they support.

This is very important for new residents as well as established residents to continue to enjoy the benefits of walking along these peaceful havens in our Parish.

Furthermore, my Parish Council is seeking the support of Milton Keynes Council to ensure that the existing trees and hedgerows are preserved and enhanced as far as possible. The Woodland Trust have recently published articles saying that planting new trees cannot be the only answer - preserving existing ones is critical to carbon capture.

Your help and support in achieving this important objective is required.
